Sketch Saturday #14

Seeing as I had to make a new baby card I thought I would combine it with the fabulous sketch over on http://sketchsaturday.blogspot.com/ , And boy is that a great sketch! I wish I had the brains to come up with sketches like that!
Anyway here it is:-

I know the card wont be to everyones liking but I do like different for new baby cards. I also think now that the Magnolia bunny was a good buy as it's all I use on new baby cards!. I used some paper from the dcwv glitter stack, and everything else had to compliment those colours. Again those first step sizzlitt letters I used, I MUST buy another set of different letters but I like those!. I painted the bunny very thinly with a pink h2o, and the dots are a brown whispers pen, the flowers are mounted on 3 circles and they are prima, I added a ribbon as that end seemed bare. The half moon thats what I shall call it anyway lol, I ran the paper through the cuttlebug using swiss dots and then i used a half moon ruler thingy to guide it, thankfully its covered by the image as my free hand cutting is awful!. I am really pleased with it! Hope they are too!

One down a few more to go now!.x

Friday Sketchers #17

Love this sketch!!!!!!!!!!
I think I have come to the conclusion that all my "cute" stamps where hidden well away as I have had another rummage and found some more, plus I gave my friend a whole carrier bag full to borrow, as I borrowed some of her smaller ones for atcs, I think we may have to swap back soon lol :0)
Anyway this card is for the sketch over on http://fridaysketchersblog.blogspot.com/
I found the stamp and decided I would keep the card pretty, and very light in its colours. I dont have any big circles, (they are on my shopping list), so I had to do something a little different for my circle part of the layout.
The stamp is by Stamps Happen and is called God's Window, I have had it for what seems like an eternity and again another one I have hardly used! only because I can never think of a sentiment to use with it. It says "Gods window from heaven........ Is always wide open!" , I rather like those words, the sentiment I added was from a hero arts stamp and says sending you a warm smile.
I painted the image with h20's (my fave colouring medium), and i attached a little cross charm to it. I used prima flowers and gems and the pale pinky coloured paper I ran through the cuttlebug using swiss dots.

I used a small sizzlitt circle and added a prima flower onto it, i then used smaller prima flowers to form a bigger circle, but because it looked a little gappy I added some gems to make the shape more visible. I dont tend to make cards using this colour combination and I am happy with it.

Sketch Saturday #13

This is my card for the sketch over on http://sketchsaturday.blogspot.com/ . I have to say I do like this sketch, mine is landscape rather than portrait, as i made the image to wide to fit.
I used another stamp which has not had an outing for a long while!, I sat and stared at her for ages trying to decide what colours to paint her, then decided I would ink around her instead, I quiet like how it has turned out. I added a little of the same inking on the card, I didnt want to surround the whole card with it, mainly because I am out of my fave smooth white card and am now resorting to using the hammered card PAPERMILL watch out I am due a visit!. One of the greetings is a penny black stamp the other is hero arts. I added a few prima flowers and some gems, and an organza bow at the other end. I think I may use this layout again!

Cute Card Thursday #25

This week over on http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/ the challenge is to make a card using the theme "in the water", with a little bit of scope as you can use ice or snow. I instantly thought oh I have no "water" type stamps, so I will have to use a snowman, I had a rummage and found this stamp that I have not used for such a long time!I stamped the image and painted it with h20's, i then used a purple inkpad to edge the image and mounted it on to some blue paper. I used 3 different coloured purple ribbons to tie the bow and attached that to the image. I also used some stickles on some of the bubbles, but not all of them as I didnt want the card to be overcome with glitter. I used 3d foam pads to stick the image to the card. The letters are sizzlitt first steps I couldnt decide between using chill or relax, but went with chill. I used the spots and dots embossing folder again, as i thought the circles would tie in with the bubbles. The flowers are prima.

What is he like?!

Last night my son was happily playing with his megabloks and Max our cat would not leave him alone!, well today the megabloks came out again and Max was there hovering around my son and his bloks!, I now know why!We then moved the bag to try and get him out! and he was not impressed! with all the risks of him hurting himself we have moved the bag and he is not best pleased with us!

Daring Cardmakers This Way Arrows

Well now I think I am addicted to challenges! lol, oh dear! But it is great to see what others are doing and get some much needed inspiration along the way!. So over on http://www.daringcardmakers.blogspot.com/ the challenge is to use arrows on your card, not something I can say I do often but I gave it a go, again another christmas image.
The image is a paperarsty santa, which I stamped onto an alcohol in background on vellum, I embossed it with black embossing powder and layered it. I cut the arrow from plain black card and I edged it with some gold ink. I ripped the vellum and stuck that on the card with the arrow on top of it, I cut mini little triangles to put along it, and I NEVER EVER WRITE on my cards, but thought this went ok, it says "santa follow the arrows to my house"
I was going to add either a button or some ribbon to the top corner then thought i would combine the two, It was only once I did it I thought I could add the little arrow ends on to the end of the ribbon, and again edged them with some gold ink. I am happy with it as its something I havent done before.

Friday Sketchers No16

This is my try on the sketch from http://fridaysketchersblog.blogspot.com/ . I decided to go with a christmas theme as I am working on christmas at the moment. The stamps are both Penny Black ones. I seem to have a thing for black on my cards this year, I know its not a typical Christmas colour but I think most of my personal cards will have black on them. I watered down some whispers pens to colour the image as i didn't want it to be too bright i wanted it to have colour but not too much. I added stickles glitter to the dots and fur on the dress, I punched a couple of snowflakes and added a gem in the middle of them, the circles i cut from a sizzlitt die and added them on to plain red paper, I used dots as i wanted it to tye in with the dots on the dress. I didn't want to add too much to the card as i think the image is big enough for the focus of it.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge #24

Well this is my first challenge, is it normal to feel nervous! lol, not sure why. The challenge was to make a card using bright colours, no matter how much I tried the camera would not pick up the colours to brightness they really are, so I had to pick the closest one.I don't think working with colours this bright is something i usually do, I love this stamp!!!

I stamped the image with black stazon and coloured it using h20's. I layered it on the plain paper which related to the colours in the image. I then mounted it again, and then mounted it on to some paper i had run through the cuttlebug with the spots and dots. I added a ribbon and some prima flowers with a glitter centre and some gems. The greeting is from Hero Arts. Well I think it fits the brief!

New Stamp!

I have to say I am a fan of these stamps by Rachel Anne Miller I got mine from http://www.theglitterpot.co.uk/ and I am chuffed with it!. I have been looking for an owl stamp that I really liked for some time and now have it! YAY! I also brought the playtime one as well, with the 2 turtles, awwwww so cute!
I layered the owls, I painted them using h20's and can you tell I got some new flowers! lol. I was quite surprised as I ordered the bitty bag again from the glitter pot and I got many more in it than I expected! I have a quick fix temporary storage solution!
I knew those left over cups from my sons birthday would come in useful for something! must go storage shopping! AGAIN!

Not much Crafting done this week

and its still raining daily! great stuff! the kids are now throughly bored of staying in out of the rain, and i am out of ideas to keep them happy, have promised them a day at the seaside bank hol mon, so fingers crossed it dont rain! windy is fine just! as long as i get them there!.

I decided that we needed to decorate!, so armed with my colours i set my plan to work in my mind, then decided to paint the ceiling, it was all going great until i fell off the ladder straight into the tv and its unit, and if that wasnt enough the ladder decided to come down and hit my leg ouch! i am still so sore from it , and there was noone to catch me or the paint oooops, hubby finished it off and i must say it looks nice the best bit is the bit i did though!
The walls are a milky cup of tea colour which looks different everytime i look at them, they are not finished yet but it should look good when done. (i hope). so the front room is topsy turvy and driving me mad!

Both the kids took it in turns to stay at nannys for the night, so on the second night when my son stayed we took our daughter out for a meal at f&b's to have some mummy daddy time, she ordered a pizza.
which was huge!!!!!! and to my surprise she only left 2 slices! She was more impressed with the cocktail she had as it had 2 straws! lol
I was talking to Kim aka Plaster Caster and she mentioned atcs for ap its that time of year again and well hmmmmmmm i am so struggling with atcs and inspiration at the mo, so heres what i did, not sure if i like or not!
It says every 1 smiles in the same language, i like that saying as really its so true, and a smile is infectious, you smile at someone 9 times out of 10 they will smile back!. anyways i used the dynmo to do the words and i was heating a bit of the utee over the domino when the heat took the white off the dynmo letters, hmmmmm, i added a bit of gold rub on over them, you have to see it in the flesh really to see the words. i cut a mag image of some lips and covered them with stazon and stuck them to the domino and utee'd the lot, the domino was covered with a base of alcohol inks. The main backing is a piece of card i had crackled glazed and i added some of the gold rub on to it and some black around the edges. the rest is just frills really.

Yea Baby!

Is my saying of the week, I have withdrawal symptoms if I dont say it daily! LOL SADDO! Well the fabby dabby good news is! I am ahead of myself yea baby! all card orders finished and complete whoo hoo, and the next one I have to make is for the end of sept, I am loving this- got some others to make but none of which i am under pressure for so its all good!.Its still raining and windy and we are still stuck indoors the great british weather, i knew i'd moan when it happened cos i moaned when it was too hot, no pleasing some people!.

anyways made this one for hubbies dad as its his birthday the first week of sept, embossed both the wordings, used h20's to colour the image, and glitter as my tube of liquid applique is all stuck at one end and refuses to budge down to the other, not impressed! Got a bit of a thing for working with these colours together, I have now done a few cards with the same colours. the stamp is called happy hour and i cut the wine glass off it, cant think who makes it and i am feeling too lazy to go and look! lol. I think I will HAVE to add mens images of some sort to my christmas list as I am running out of stamps to use for them, in fact I think I have used all the male stamps I have for his dad so far with one card or another, yay at least I dont have to do another until fathers day that gives me plently of time to get in some new!

Anyways I am rambling! lol

Retirement card for a nurse

So the original idea anne(norfolk) suggested she didnt do, so wasnt much point in using that, although its in the vault for another time. So I came up with this. I have seen something similar when I very first started crafting so could not tell you where to look for it as it was a few years back, they had used chocolate and had a little hammer to break the glass, not sure it could even be nicks?! i dont know, whoever it was though good idea!!!! thanks.
I wanted the front to be pretty and clean cut like any other standard card, and the inside contains the connection to the nurse who works in sexual health with teenagers. Easy brief, but not being the wittiest tool in the box I had to think hard about it!
I used a layer of acetate and some memory glass to cover over and sizzlitt alphabet for the wording, the front stamp is a hero arts stamp which i used a mix of 2 colourbox chalk inks for the blue of the flower.
I am quiet happy with it as i didnt want it to be smutty, and i dont think it is.

Awwwww A Baby Girl

YAY!!! I am happy :0)
I made 2 cards both different, one simple which i do not usually seem to be able to achieve and guess what?! I am happy happy with them both, still got a thing for brown!I am so chuffed with this card, it finished up looking exactly how it did in my minds eye, not often for me to be happy with the end result!, the close ups show a better likeness of the colour, no matter how many pics i took the card refused to show up good! I have had a huge sheet of baby pink mulberry paper for as long as i can remember so finally it has had a chunk taken out of it, not sure why i brought it as i am not a mulberry paper person usually!, mind you i say its mulberry the texture on it looks like the old wood chip wallpaper. The letters are cut from sizzlitts alphabet "first steps".Awww and the feet, well.... i only had blue ones left!, so i thought about it for ages how can i make them different?! hmmm ok so i coloured them with whispers brown and left them to dry, 45mins later i was still getting little feet imprints on my fingertips, so clever me, i covered them in a layer of utee, but look close enough you can still see some blue, but the backing has some blue in the paper so its ok!
Yes its green!!! I am so fed up of all pink cards, touches of pink are fab though, and the dotty paper again some I have had for ages, I think from a hotp paper pad. I dont tend to be able to simple well, as my simple I always feel doesnt have enough on it, but this card I like, not sure if its because it is green or just because I am having a good craft day. The embossed piece is a cuttlebug folder, they came free with the machine and I dont think i have used it on a card yet! Its cute, I'll give it that. I like the postage stamp idea though and have a few more embossing folders to try to match it. I double layered both parts of the stamp.

Back to it now as I have a backlog of cards to get finished!

Still wrapped up in Christmas!

Still not sticking to just one colour theme, is it just me or do you find it hard to stick to one thing?!. Heres a couple more christmassy cards, and one i had forgotton i had made but was uploaded with 40 other pictures i had forgotton i had taken! delete, delete, delete. Why is it that you have every colour in every shade of card, cept the colour you want?!!!!!!!!! must must stock up on black and brown, its depressing to open my card cupboard and see so many shades of red, orange, yellows and pink, that probably will take an eternity to use up!. Its still raining bucket loads here so is perfect craft time, the kids are happy with their colouring books, my son will scribble a bit of colour on each page then declare he has finished the book, and refuses to do anymore with it, i have just turnt the book over and opened it and told him to draw on the back of all the pages he has coloured i give him 15 mins before he has finished that too, already since the hols have started he has gone through the best part of a pack of printer paper, think maybe he needs a forest of his own lol. My daughter on the other hand has found that she can pull faces at you when you talk to her, and has bucket loads of attitude, my gosh and she isnt no where being a teenager yet! in her case it is deffo too much teen tv!!!So the cuttlebug came out to play, so did the sizzix, I wanted to make a brown card for christmas and then realised i had a distinct lack of brown card, and then all my christmassy stamps are tooooooooo big to fit inside the oval, and that i seem to have no christmas embellishments the list goes on........!, so this is what i came up with, i actually hated it with a passion when it was finished, but it wasnt!, i picked up my waterbrush and added some watercolour to the cream oval, to give it a dirty old type of look, now it was finished and i loved it!!! so me being me i wanted to try it in another colour, hence the blue which i honestly dislike so much, it sat on my desk for 2 days unfinshed and i thought ughhhhhhh, so if you end up with it come christmas time, I LOVE YA REALLY! hehehe.

And this little kitty was left alone on my camera i had forgotton all about him, again brown and again i love it! think i have a fondness for brown!, crackle glaze again, that bottle sure is getting good use!!!!!! So now its back to the desk to see if any more christmas can be made, my method is if i make loads now then i wont be following the examples i led myself of last year and the year before of making christmas cards at the last minute, hopefully it will go to plan! I still havent managed to make the 2 christening cards i need, the months i had to do them are turning into weeks, and nothing is coming into the imagination, i attempted one and it looked like a sympathy card so that went in the bin lol, my daughter needs a simple happy 8th birthday card for her friend and even that was so challenging for me that its been sidelined!, maybe its too much christmas and not enough play. have a good weekend all.x

I found me MOJO!

YAY! I found me Mojo it was hidden in Christmas, The following are the starting of Christmas 2008 lol, Christmas in August ain't that bad! if its good enough for harrods its good enough for me!, talking of harrods, the news snippet i watched said there was 142 days left until christmas eeeeeeeek! thats not long at all.
As usual i had a colour theme in mind, and begun with that, but as usual i soon get bored of the same and itch to do something else, so I dont think i will have a colour theme this year, it will be a mix of whatever comes out of the imagination.

So my initial colour scheme was the pastels. I love this whipper snapper snowman image. I coloured them using twinkling h20's and added some stickles to the jacket cuffs and snow. I done 5 different ones using this colouring and image then went in completley the opposite direction with colours!

So I went to this colour scheme i love it! i used alcohol inks on vellum, and then stamped the paperartsy image on to it and embossed it with black powder, mounted them, and added them to each card, they are deffo not my usual type of christmas card, but i think people may just end up with some of these from me!
I then used the same sort of style just changed the colours, i think this is my least fave one, i only did 2 in this colour scheme.

and these were the last two i made, i did 2 in the black as i loved it!, not so keen on the lilac but hey ho, i used a little glamour dust around the snowman himself, and decoupaged his scarf i added some fibres to the end f the scarfs, (bum fluff as i keep calling it, not sure why either), and thats me lot, i am quite happy with myself i didnt think i would get any crafting done at all this summer so yay for Christmas!!!!!!! Ho Ho Ho
