Just Christmas and Birthday Challenge

Hi everyone, hope you are all well. It started off a lovely bright monday but now looks like its about to piddle down. I have found its been quite a free day today and I have wasted most of it lol ooops! I did make one card tho, not 100% on it, cant put me finger on why, I seem to be getting that feeling a lot lately.

There is a fabulous sketch from Tanja over on the Just Christmas and Birthday Challenge, I love the sketch

So heres mine, I used this princess from High Hopes but cut her wand off, I had an original plan but then changed my mind lol so she stayed this way

I coloured her with copic ciaos and promarkers, and added glamour dust to her wings, not sure what it was but something made me want to go bold and bright today I think I hit that target lol the patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket, and a bit of ribbon and glass like pebbles.

Thanks for Looking.xxx

OOOOH I have a question, now please dont laugh at my sheer ignorance, but, my daughter is in the juniors now and instead of an easter bonnet she needs to make an egg, using real eggs, ok heres my stooooopid question to many of you as I really should know, but how do you boil an egg and make it hard without the inside being in it??????? All I can imagine is shell everywhere lol. Better still if you know another way please do enlighten me :O)

Thanks for Stopping by today.xxx

Well i for one love the bright colours!! OOooh decorating eggs - i remember doing that when i was at school!!! We always used to leave the middle in the eggs, just really REALLY hard boil them. We had to take the middle out of the eggs when we did an egg hunt though ( we had raffle tickets shoved in the shells. To do that you have to prick the egg either end with a needle or sharp knife to make a hole then blow in one end and the middle would come shooting out the other - very messy but FUN!! lol

Love this. Great Colors!
Yea, I think you poke a little hole in the bottom and then blow the raw egg out. I saw my grandpa do this once, but have never tried it myself. Sorry that's probably not that helpful.

your card is beautiful Joey, love the sweet image and pretty paper!
I agree with the others, decorate it hard boiled with the middle in! Once it is painted either use varnish, pva glue or clear nail varnish to give it a lovely strong coating which will help prevent breakages!
My Dad used to paint eggs years ago and we kept some of his for years with the middles in. They eventually turn into really hard balls which you can hear rattle inside, just make sure they aren't somewhere they can break if you intend to keep them a while!

Lovely card, love the bright colours and the image is fab really cute. I think you just need to really hard boil your egg, else if it was just shell it would probably just crack.

Gorgeous card Joey...love the colours.
I think just hard boiling the egg is the safer bet rather than a hollow shell!!!

Hi Hun this is a great card dear love the colour scheme.
As for the eggs, if you only want to keep them for this year then boil them for about 15mins leaving the egg inside, but if you want to keep them you have to make a pin hole in both ends and blow the egg out, you need quite a few layers of lear varnish to make it strong though, best of luck hun

fab card Joey :-) Love the colours, very striking :-)
As for the egg thing I think there's a mistake somewhere, I can't imagine kids being asked to blow the raw eggs these days !! I would ask the teacher or other mums at school. Hard boil em and decorate, the shell would be very fragile otherwise anyway !
